Last week it was announced that our Conservative Government has exceeded its target of 20 000 new police officers nationwide, with Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber announcing a record number of 5034 officers in the force, up 500 since 2010.
Gareth said, "Not only will this ensure we can all feel safer in our communities and home, but it also means faster action and better support for victims and swifter justice for those who don't obey our laws."
As well as this fantastic achievement in police numbers, under Conservative leadership across the country and our community, local crime rates have fallen.
Neighbourhood crime is down 17%, Burglary is down by a third, Robbery is down by a quarter and outcomes for Rape and sexual offences are up 23% on last year.
It is of vital importance that we continue investment into combating crime and antisocial behaviour in our area and we are indebted to the men and women who go out every day to keep us safe.
