When residents in Chesham and Amersham expressed their concerns around burglaries in November last year, Gareth organised a public meeting with the Police Area Commander. This resulted in an increase in patrols, leading to a sharp drop in burglaries by two thirds in the Chiltern and South Bucks area.
Gareth welcomes the fact that the government has delivered on their pledge to recruit 20,000 new police officers, including 784 of them being recruited in the Thames Valley. This means that we now have a record number of police officers in the Thames Valley. Gareth works closely with local Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber and helped recruit the new Chief Constable. Gareth will continue to partner with our local police officers in order to ensure residents’ safety in Chesham, Amersham and the villages.
We know we’ve got further to go to cut crime. But by working with our local police we can continue to make progress keeping our community as safe as possible.
